If you're like me and you're always longing to get back to France, here are some of my family's go-to books to get there from our couch!
I posted this reel on Instagram to show some of my favorites, but here is the full list for you, as well as some that others have reminded me of:
Novels:
The Avion My Uncle Flew - a young boy's summer adventure in France, introducing French words throughout (a family favorite!)
A Moveable Feast (for the mature reader) - Hemingway's memoir of his time living in Paris
My Life in France - Julia Child's memoir of falling in love with French cooking
A Year in Provence - An English man's adventure of settling into his new home in the south of France
The Family Under the Bridge - Maybe even better read during Christmas, but a sweet story of a family in Paris, but without a home
Picture books:
This is Paris - the sweetest vintage picture book about Paris. He has many other cities in this series
All the Buildings in Paris - a delightful set of illustrations mapping out all of Paris' iconic buildings
Linnea in Monet's Garden - a beautiful picture book about Claude Monet and his garden in Giverny

Non-fiction reference:
How to Read Paris - similar to All the Buildings in Paris but more for the adult reader, beautiful drawings
The Book of Marvels - probably still my kids' favorite book from our Ambleside readings. Take special note of the chapters on Mont Saint Michel and the French cathedrals!
A Child's History of Art - the best companion to Hillyer's A Child's History of the World!
The Story of Painting - If you want to get deeper into the French artists and movements that fill up the most amazing museums in the world
Let me know if there are others you know of that I can add to the list!
Happy travel reading!
