Welcome to the Self-Paced version of Online French 1A, a year-long online introductory course. My goal is to expose you to the language, culture, art, music, poetry/proverbs and geography of France with a particular emphasis on Paris. You will be introduced to grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, and listening in French through pre-recorded videos.
By the end of this school year, my hope is to have you communicating in French about your hobbies, preferences, your family, the weather, and order at a French restaurant/café. We will also spend some time practicing how to navigate around Paris.
A work of historical fiction will also be read together. This book will transport us to a small village in France during the period in history just after WW2.
Together, let's enjoy a rich feast of French language and culture that will ignite a desire to travel abroad and to feel comfortable spending time visiting a French-speaking country. I’m excited about all we will learn together this year!
** You will have access to 25 lessons from Aug - May that you can view on your own schedule. The videos will allow for your participation as you watch. Each lesson will also provide homework which will require you to send in videos or voice recordings of yourself. Madame Lee will then provide individualized feedback based on your homework.

The Avion My Uncle Flew
This book, written in English, introduces French words throughout and ends with a few pages written entirely in French. We will be reading this wonderful story throughout the school year. An audio version will be available to those who prefer to listen along while reading. This book is out of print, but affordable used copies are available.
